Special Conditions Of Entry

1. The standard conditions of entry as set out in Rule 82 and the International Entries and conditions contained in Rule 83 of the GBGB Rule of Racing will apply except where they have been varied by these special conditions.
2. The English Greyhound Derby 2025 is an open race event for greyhounds registered in accordance with the Rules of Racing of the GBGB before the closing date of 28 April 2025 at 7:00pm.
3. No GBGB trained greyhound will be considered unless it is registered and qualified to race at the time of closing.
4. In the event of an entry being found to be ineligible after the closing date, the entry fee will not be refunded.
5. Greyhounds must not be removed from the racing kennels subsequent to racing until permission to do so has been granted by the stewards of the meeting.
6. Where a valid entry has been accepted, that greyhound may have a trial, free of charge, at one of the designated Derby Trial sessions, subject to availability.
7. Late entries will not be accepted.
8. Entry fees must be cleared funds by the time of closing to be a valid entry.
9. No greyhound may contest any other race during this competition.
10. While in England, Scotland, or Wales during the period from time of entry until after the race, all international entries shall be housed in GBGB Licensed Residential kennels.
11. Preference may be given to greyhounds who have had a minimum of one trial (over any distance) at Towcester within four months of the time of closing.

Special Notices

GBGB Rule 79 (ii) By special dispensation of the GBGB Senior Stipendiary Steward, alterations to the seeding of greyhounds by the Racing Manager will be extended up to and for the 3rd Round.

GBGB Rule 87 By special dispensation of the GBGB Senior Stipendiary Steward, guarding for greyhounds in the competition will be extended up to and for the 2nd Round. Entry fees will be refunded up to the draw of the first round being made only where a valid veterinary certificate is produced stating that the greyhound is unfit to take part. All entry forms must be signed by the bona fide owner, his/her authorised agent (as registered with the GBGB or Irish Coursing Club) or trainer and a separate form must be completed for each greyhound and returned direct to Towcester Racecourse. No responsibility can be accepted for late entry forms or entry forms lost in the post or not delivered by email.
